The Kerala tourism department is keen on developing the backwaters to major tourist destinations. Vyttila Mobility Hub authorities have got a major uplift. Now plans are being made to set up a boat jetty next to the hub. For the boat jetty, the executive committee of the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society held a meeting. In the meeting, the committee has decided to exploit the resources that could be made use near the hub. There is not much transportation going n in the place. Via Champakkara canal, it will be easier to go from Vyttila to Fort Kochi. The State can also increase its income when there is demand of water transportation facilities. With the mobility hub, the Corporation says that the potential of the place is also increased. On the western side of the Champakkara canal, a walkway will be created.
With Kunnara Park, the walkway will connect the hub. Since the water in the area is pretty shallow, there is a great scope for water sports. Vyttila Mobility Hub managing director M Beena said that if the Corporation is looking forward to such a project, she will be giving full support to that. Then the hub will be having all sort of transportation like rail, road and water transport. A new design has been proposed for jetty. The estimated cost for the new jetty will be also revised. KITCO has prepared an advanced design for the project. Designs of advanced boat jetties in the Maldives were also pointed out in the meeting. The appearance of the jetty will be also given importance in the new design. For the construction of jetty, Rs 2.89 Crore is the estimated amount. The meeting also pointed out that this amount is high for building a jetty.
