Cherai Beach is located 26 km from Kochi, which is one of the cleanest beaches in the state. This beach is 15 kms long and borders the Vypeen islands, alongside the backwaters. The best part about this beach is that you could enjoy the scenic beauty of the lush green cover of paddy fields and coconut trees alongside the scenic backwaters. Apart from that the beach is known for being passive and shallow, which is rightly referred to as the “Princess of the Arabian Sea”. If you’re lucky enough you would be able to spot dolphins, which call this beach their home.

The next beach that is worth a visit is the Thangassery Beach, which is 5 km away from Kollam. This beach is a part of a village along the sea side, which is of historical importance. Near the beach you would be able to find Old Portuguese churches and forts that were built in the 18th century. While you’re here, you could drop in at Thangassery lighthouse which is 144 feet high.

The title of the finest beach in Kerala is bestowed upon the Fort Kochi beach. This beach is 12 km away from Kochi city. You would be able to lot of buildings which represent Indo-European architecture at its best. This region used to be a sleepy fishing village which was one among the first townships set up by Europeans in the country.
Next, you must visit Kumarakom, which is situated on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. Apart from being a preferred tourist spot, this archipelago consisting of small islands is situated in the pristine waters of Vembanad Lake. You would be able to admire the lush green paddy fields, mangrove forests and a multitude of coconut groves.

The last, but certainly not the least beach destination in Kerala is Marari beach. The beaches name is derived from ‘Mararikulam’, which is the name of a fishing village located close by. You would be able to feel that the charm of the old world still lingers here, as men go out to sea to bring in their days catch. The endless stretch of sand is nothing less than wonderful.
