First Seaplane of Kerala Will Fly Over the Coast This September

With the idea and efforts made by the Kerala Tourism Department, there will be a seaplane soon for the tourists. This will be the first time in the state. As a part of the Emerging Kerala Global Connect Program, the sea plane facility will be made available. On Saturday, the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy announced the project.

The Chief Minister was laying foundation stone for office complex of Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) and water transport terminal. The water transport terminal will come on the Goshree-Chatiath Road. During the global connect program, the first seaplane service will begin. The service is anticipated to be opened by September. The Kerala state government is also planning to increase the water tourism of the state by the project. Kerala has long strip of coast. One of the main incomes for Kerala State government is tourism. The Kerala Tourist Department is planning to increase the tourism by increasing the access to the coastal areas.

The current plan is to make use of the coastal areas to increase the tourism. The Chief minister also added that a meeting will be held on May 28 at Thiruvananthapuram. The meeting will be held with the prime minister’s advisor Sam Pitroda. During the meeting, the development plans for Kerala will be discussed. On Saturday, the construction work of GIDA started. This is a three-storied complex. Currently, the GIDA is the revenue tower complex. After completion of the construction, it will move to the new building.

During the development process, new roads and bridges will be there connecting the islands. There will be efficient transportation system. For cheap and fast transport more speed boats will be made available soon. Rupees 6.33 Crore is the estimated cost of the project. KITCO has completed the tender proceedings of the project.
